We’ve all heard of the saying “practice makes perfect” when trying to improve an attribute. However, another saying “form follows function” can also mean that if there is a dys-function or something that doesn’t allow a specific body part to do its job correctly, there will be a compensation. Incorrect dental development will continue downstream with a trickle effect (For more details, see Dr. Stagg’s book “SMILE” on pg. 149 available on Amazon).
Through her master’s thesis research, Dr. Stagg evaluated whether the direction of walking would be changed by different bite relationships. The study determined whether a minor change in height on one side of the mouth would be expressed as a change in the walking direction. Pretty cool, right!???
